I also tracked down the person who eBirded the Broad-billed Hummingbird in
University Place before I saw the posting from Matt Bartels that the site
was not generally open to the public. I spent over an hour with him in his
yard, but did not see the bird. He said that he had watched for it for
about 6 hours today. He also showed me more photos of the bird, although
they were not as good as the one he submitted with his eBird report. All
show the red bill and bill shape consistent with Broad-billed; some show a
little more white eyeline than the eBird photo, but it is not very
extensive; none show much of the tail. He was planning to submit the photos
to Matt. He promised to let me know if the bird reappeared.
