Hi Tweeters -

There's nothing like having a hummer's nest to watch - it totally keeps one from getting anything else done! While observing the progress today, I did witness additions being made - including collection from the fluff ball (saw a little "poof" on the edge of the nest and then it was gone - woven in) and the adding lichens - new "shingles" to the outside - it was nearly bare when I found it this afternoon. She formed the outside of the nest, shaping and smoothing it with her bill.

I just checked it - she is not there. I'll be monitoring the progress as the days go by. Lichen by lichen. (I may need to finally join the lichen society - always wanted the bumper sticker
"I LIKE LICHENS" . I always did - even before I knew hummingbirds adorned their nests with them!
