Warning, if you are squeamish don't read any further!

In what had to be one of the more bizarre episodes of a bald eagle meal,
I got a call from a friend telling me a bald was trying to eat a black
cat with the tide coming in. The bird couldn't carry it off but wasn't
willing to let go of it either. It drew a crowd watching the drama as
the eagle clung to the very wet (dead) cat with one foot to keep it from
washing away....and the water was coming in higher.

The eagle finally managed to half drag/float the cat down the beach a
ways away from the crowd, then lost it to the incoming surf. It made a
few more attempts to hover and snag, but just couldn't manage it.
