Hi all,

Well, the very first bird I saw from my backyard this morning was a crow,
so that is definitely my first bird of 2016. However, I saw it flying high
overhead over the neighbor's yard, and typically I don't count birds on my
'yard bird' list unless they are solidly in our backyard (I am probably too
particular about this).

Anyway, so the first "backyard bird" of 2016 was: Townsend's warbler!! It
showed up on the suet feeder and without my glasses on or binoculars I
first thought it was probably a chickadee, but once I got the binoculars on
it I was excited to realize what it actually was! I actually saw my very
first Townsend's on January 1st 2014 at the condo we used to live in.

The next backyard birds (so far) are: chestnut backed chickadee, bushtit,
and dark eyed junco (Oregon). I'm looking forward to seeing what else shows
up today!

Good birding!
