A little late on this, but on New Year's Day a friend and I went up to Kent
in hopes of adding some new birds to my King County list. After seeing my
county first Dunlin at the M St marsh, we went to Frager Rd and 204th, and
after just a couple minutes, saw the Tree Sparrow foraging with some juncos
off of 204th. Also had great views of the Phoebe and a male Eurasian Wigeon
at the ponds there. The Tree Sparrow was a lifer and the Phoebe a new
County bird! Later went to Kent Ponds where we saw the usual suspects, and
we were treated to great views of a Cedar Waxwing. This is my first time
seeing the species in the county in winter. Hope this is a sign that there
will be many more good birds in the coming year!
