Hi Tweets,

At last! Finding Black Scoters in Pierce County has been remarkably difficult and it was quite nice that Bruce LaBar located them in my backyard! This afternoon there was a group of 6 birds, 4 males & 2 females, seen from Thea?s Park off of Dock Street. This is the park near the giant international grain silos. Take I-705 south to Schuester Parkway and take a right at the first light onto Dockstreet and then the first left into the Park.

The birds were by a rip rap rock island and along the rock rip rap covering some large pipe outlet from the port lands. You?ll need a scope to view them well. It is possible to get a bit closer, but access around the port is limited, especially during the work week when you have to compete with large amounts of trucks.

Good birding,
