I have followed much of the commentary on the Malheur fiasco,
and have been grateful for the insights about what was happening and who these people
were. However, a man was killed yesterday at or near Malheur NWR. He was killed
by a policeman protecting our right to access and enjoy a National Wildlife
refuge most of us have strong feelings for. Regardless of your politics the killing
of a man is always a tragedy. In this case, it seems a senseless tragedy, as
well. Real people are hurting and mourning. Perhaps, it would be a good idea if
the political commentary on this issue on Tweeters stopped for a few weeks out
of respect. Perhaps, too, we could take the time to locate the man?s family and
send them a letter of condolence.
