While birding at the Goat Marsh Natural Resource Area yesterday about 4 PM briefly saw two birds flying over the marsh that I identified as Black Swifts. Birds were at a height that they just higher than the tall trees around the marsh. Scimitar shape I associate with swifts. Appeared significantly larger than Vaux's Swifts, though nothing to compare with in the air at the time. The tail was longer in proportion with the bird than with Vaux's Swift. Could not determine if tail had a slight fork. Totally dark bird when viewed against blue sky or white clouds. Not the fluttery wingbeat of Vaux's Swift. My previous experiences with Black Swifts have been along with Vaux's Swifts where one could compare the two in flight.
