Well Blair just confirmed what Mike and I were thinking after reviewing
Larry Goodhews photos of the hummingbird - our 5 second look on Monday
and our poor photo (and Linda's description) led us to a hurried
conclusion - and Blair's photos definitely show that it is NOT a
Broad-tailed Hummer.

Sorry to all that spent the time but thanks for the much better photos
that ID the bird.

We did NOT hear the bird on Monday and that did leave us wondering - - -
