If you bird the Union Bay Natural Area (AKA the Montlake Fill) in
Seattle regularly, please note that there are scheduled trail closures
June 13-24 for the new wetlands mitigation project.

See: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR520Bridge/About/UBNA.htm
and scroll down to "What's new on the UBNA mitigation site" to see
details. They say the trails will be re-opened evenings and weekends.

Re: the ospreys there -- I spoke with two WS-DOT workers this morning
at the site, and they said that with the assistance of a wildlife
biologist, they have marked out a buffer zone around the nest platform
to hopefully prevent any undue disturbance of the birds.

Happy birding,
