Hi all,

We spent a bit of time yesterday morning at the Three Forks Natural Area in Snoqualmie. We noticed at least two singing male Lazuli Buntings. Makes me wonder if there has been evidence of Lazuli Bunting nesting in that specific area? As they?ve been seen there for the past several years, my thinking is that they do nest somewhere in there, but I wouldn?t know for sure.

As usual, we had great sightings: nesting Bullock?s Oriole, Red-breasted Sapsuckers, and Pileated Woodpeckers. The Willow Flycatchers were not shy about their presence; always nice to see/hear these latecomers. Pacific-slope Flycatchers were also heard. Red-eyed vireo were quite vocal, but not clearly seen. We also heard Cassin?s Vireo. Cliff, Violet-Green and Barn Swallows were seen in pretty good numbers. The Savannah Sparrows were still singing among the tall grassy areas. Got good looks at Common Yellowthroats and Yellow Warblers. Rufous Hummingbirds seem to like this place, too. And, if there is ever a reliable spot for actually seeing and not just hearing Swainson?s Thrush, this is it; at least that is our personal experience.

Considering that we didn?t spend as long there as we have in the past, we found lots of variety and good sightings of many species.
