Subject: [Tweeters] The UBNA/The Fill is CLOSED

I went down there for a tail end of spring birding morning and found the Trail over the slough closed. I could see them working in the dime lot obviously that must be a health and safety issue.

I walked around to the "yards" and found a sign (and guy in full construction hi-vis telling me) "the trail" was closed.

That's just the trail though the UBNA. I pressed on.

He was right. The whole of the UBNA is unaccessible.

I exited past two guys putting up barriers on the CUH end of the Wakiakum Lane.

The place in now littered with white signs on stick with PROHIBITED AREA on them informing the (clearly dumb) SDOT contractors that they really shouldn't mess up random bits of the landscape in the UBNA.

Curiously they're doing modifications to vegetation and habit on the Fill DURING nesting season. I"m sure there are Savannah Sparrows out there that don't get to finish nesting.

The vague signage seems to implie this is just for weekdays (open weekends?) from now to mid-July.
