Hi Tweets !
Last evening was a total frenetic blast of great Merlin actions, fun, fast-movement, friends, and a little fakery !!! Some stiff necks have resulted, but soon we will WANT to be complaining about them, as they will cease to be initiated by our little friends in the trees and air, the Merlin family of Dwayne & Wanda (so-named by the nest tree property owner !) These warm evenings have been the best times to view and hear the raucous calls. Tonight should still be similar to last night, as there is at least one juvie who either hasn't yet fledged or just did yesterday. Yes, Jim, they are like whirling dervishes, turning us into the same, though on the ground! It's wonderfully exhausting. Lots of supportive neighbors and a few grumpies - pretty normal. Appreciative and enthusiastic responses far outweigh complaints, so it has been a great success ! As the young are now learning to line up on branches and wait their turn for the fly-in meal deliveries, it won't be too many more days before they head to more distant trees. Visit now while the action is localized.

Michelle Linafelter shared this link to her great photos from last evening and from previous days - can any of you identify the prey bird that the adult female brought to the chicks? Junco ? Sparrow of some sort? Finch?

Thanks, Michelle !
