Yesterday at lunch a bright bit of ruby and garnet flew up to check the faded red seed feeder on the back deck. It hovered a moment before realizing the faded red thing had no nectar. It flew off to who knows where. After lunch I put out a nectar feeder. Later in the afternoon a lovely female rufous found the feeder on the east side of the house. Spring is surely here.

The band-tailed pigeon population is now up to 7 birds. More to come I'm sure.
