Hello Tweets,

I just left Marymoor Park a few minutes ago, where a confiding and very entertaining Say's Phoebe was flycatching around the East Meadow. I first found the bird sallying out from a perch in the dry creekbed on the northeast side of the meadow; while I was watching it, the Phoebe moved widely across the meadow. Every time it flew, the sun would catch in the bird's primaries, making its wings almost appear to be white. A beautiful bird in earthy brown and salmon pink, frequently flicking its longish dark tail. Every few minutes the Phoebe would let out a little "pe-eer" call, which helped to relocate the bird whenever I lost track of it. Also around were at least a dozen Western Meadowlarks, many of them singing!

The weather this afternoon has been sunny and warm, fittingly recalling the climate of eastern Washington; even when the sun disappeared behind the clouds for a few minutes at a time, you could still see bright blue skies all around!

Good birding, Joshua Glant
