Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 24. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The South Beach State Park MOUNTAIN PLOVER and the Hatfield Science Center
BULLOCK?S ORIOLE are still being seen. On March 17 a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE
was at the Avenue G pond near White City,

MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES continue to be seen west of the Cascades. The first main
warbler movement entered the state during the week with mainly YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS and lesser numbers of ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS. On March 23 an early
BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER was at the Tualatin NWR. Good movements of
VIOLET-GREEN and TREE SWALLOWS containing smaller numbers of CLIFF and BARN
SWALLOWS were reported. On March 17 ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were reported near
Grants Pass.

On March 12 a SAY?S PHOEBE was near Finley NWR. Another was near Gates March
17. On March 20 two were at Powell Butte Park in Gresham.

An adult SABINE?S GULL was at Yaquina Bay March 23. On March 18 a GOLDEN
EAGLE was at coon Point on Sauvie Island. A BURROWING OWL was seen during
the week at Steigerwald NWR. Up to four MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were seen during
the week at Powell Butte Park in Gresham. A flock of 14 GREAT EGRETS were
seen March 18 near Canby. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was at Finley NWR March 19.
