I looked out my front window this afternoon and saw a little brown bird land on the ground, figured it was a Pine Siskin at first, then saw its rufous cap and long tail?a Chipping Sparrow! This is the second one I?ve had in the yard, first on 31 May 2014 (still the last new bird for our yard list), but I?ve been scrutinizing this yard since 1992, so I?d call it rather rare. Quite a thrill and got great photos of it.
