Hello All,

What an amazing gull year it has been so far. Starting off in January
with a large die off of Shad on the Snake River in the Lower Monumental
Dam pool were the following gull species: California, Ring-billed,Mew,
Glaucous-winged, Glaucous, Thayers, Western, Lesser-black-backed,
Slaty-backed, Herring, Black-legged Kittiwakes and Iceland. And in the
last week Bonaparte s and Franklin s have been found. So this is the
largest diversity of gulls I am aware of anywhere in the inter-mountain
west or at any inland location. What other species could still be found
here are Heermann's, Black-headed, Black-tailed and Sabine's Gulls. So
keep your eyes open as you bird here in the Lower Columbia Basin-what a
cumulative gull big year so far!
