This morning, I made my first visit to Sultan Basin Rd. and then stopped at
the Monroe Prison Farm Pond and Crescent Lake WMA. At Sultan Basin Rd., my
highlights were an American Dipper under the Olney Creek bridge, and a
calling Hammond's Flycatcher on a snag just down the road. At Crescent
Lake, I found male Yellow and Wilson's Warblers at the lake, along with a
female Wood Duck and newborn. I also heard a Virginia Rail there. Along the
stream next to the dog-training area at the start of Tualco Loop Rd., I
observed two more Yellow Warblers, an Olive-sided Flycatcher and a male
Bullock's Oriole.

The prison farm pond was disappointing given recent reports. I did not see
any shorebirds (as in 0), and the swallow population was minimal. I also
dipped on the teals and the Yellow-headed Blackbirds.
