Hi Tweets,

I found two Acorn Woodpeckers where Blaire Bernson saw them earlier this
summer. They were east of Bingen, WA. I parked at the corner of Balch Rd
and Tuthill Rd at about 2pm on Friday 11/4 and could hear them vocalizing.
I walked up Tuthill Rd and saw Acorn Woodpeckers flying across the road
between the oak trees just north of the red house and the lone large pine
tree on the left side of the road. I found them with Lewis?s Woodpeckers
and Northern Flickers. There were also more Western Scrubjays than I had
ever seen at one time. Between Old Hwy 8 and the beginning of Tuthill Rd
passing by Balch Lake, I counted 25 Western Scrubjays. May have been
more. They were flying in all directions with acorns in beak.

Just a few hours earlier, I saw and photographed the Red-shouldered Hawk at
Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. It was near #9 on the right side of
the road.
