Birders,



The TROPICAL KINGBIRD on Eide Road (near Stanwood in Snohomish County) was
conspicuous and easily seen and photographed almost throughout my visit
there today, from about 2:00 to 3:45 PM. It entertained a group of about 12
birders, most of whom (including me) got several to many good photos. It was
frequenting leafless trees about 200 yards beyond (south of) the parking
area on Eide Road.



The kingbird has been there for a full week now, since its discovery on
November 3. It was pleasant to watch the bird in balmy temperatures (64
degrees) with partly sunny skies. With luck, the bird may stay for a few
more days for those who haven't seen it yet.



On the north side of Highway 532- from the pullout immediately west of the
Mark Clark bridge- I was also able to see the GREAT EGRET (which has also
been there for at least a few days) feeding in the marsh to the west.



The birds of prey, as usual at Eide Road in late fall and winter, also put
on a good show. I tallied at least 8 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 4 RED-TAILED HAWKS,
one BALD EAGLE, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, a COOPER'S HAWK, and 3 SHORT-EARED
OWLS in the area. While standing on the dike along the channel, I also saw 2
NORTHERN SHRIKES squabbling over something in the field on the other (east)
side of the channel.



Pretty good birding for early November!
