Hi all,

There is one previous record of Common Scoter in the ABA Area. It was at Crescent City, CA, first seen on Jan 25, 2015, and it stayed for about two weeks. There's a chance the one in Oregon is the same individual. More info at http://blog.aba.org/2015/02/abarare-common-scoter-california.html


There are also some records from Greenland, which is included in the first through sixth editions of the American Ornithologists' Union checklist but not the seventh, though apparently it will be back in for the eighth.
