Today, unfortunately, our pelagic trip got canceled because of wind conditions. There are only two pelagic trips scheduled for the rest of the season. One is next Saturday, Oct. 8 and the final one is on Oct. 22nd. There are still spaces available for both trips.
October can be a very exciting month for pelagics. Throughout the years we have had good success with sightings of Flesh-footed Shearwaters, Buller?s Shearwaters and Short-tailed Shearwaters. We have also had several Manx Shearwaters and in 2013, two Great Shearwaters! This month has proven to be good for South Polar Skua and Laysan Albatross. Rarities include Parakeet Auklets and one time, a Brown Booby siting on a log.
