Luckily, I was eating dinner by an open window this evening (5 Oct 2016) because I heard a California Scrub-Jay calling and ran out to see it sitting on top of a neighbor's tree. This was in the Matthews Beach neighborhood, just a few blocks due south of Meadowbrook Pond. Not only was it the first one I've seen from my yard, but it's also the first I've seen in northeast Seattle.
