Hi Tweeters,

I decided to try my luck at some hawk watching in Clark County, my home
county. I was cautiously optimistic since I had never found a very good
spot in the county before to watch hawk migration but I felt that raptors
may be moving in advance of the forecasted atmospheric river. I headed up
to Larch Mountain, the highest point in the county and stopped at a spot
that I thought might be good. I lucked out in that I had birds flying for
the 2.5 hours that I stayed there (10:15-12:45):

NORTHERN GOSHAWK: 1 immature that stayed in view for four minutes. This is
a code 3 bird in this county and my first for Larch Mountain.
Cooper's Hawk: 2
Sharp-shinned Hawk: 6
Red-tailed Hawk: 8
Merlin: 1
Bald Eagle: 2

After running a few errands and mowing the lawn, I scanned the sky from my
back yard for about 45 minutes this afternoon:

Cooper's Hawk: 2
Sharp-shinned Hawk: 1
Red-tailed Hawk: 1
Bald Eagle: 1
American Kestrel: 1 (rarely seen from my yard)

ok, bring on the rain!

Keep your eyes and ears and waterproof binoculars skyward!
