The Marysville-Everett area had a few interesting birds today, despite a dark start to the day, birding with Kayla and Doug Standish. Along the Centennial Trail (walking south from 84th Street/Getchell Hill road toward Lake Cassidy), we encountered a calling SWAMP SPARROW and Kayla found a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW also--both in the immediate vicinity of the dock at the public access on the east side of Lake Cassidy. BEWICK'S WRENS were surprisingly common all along the trail, including a number of singing birds. BUFFLEHEADS had arrived on the lake for winter, and both KINGLETS were amply evident.


Another SWAMP SPARROW was heard only by the Spencer I. bridge. Duck numbers are building, and we had three geese species here also.
