Hi Tweeters,

Despite all the construction that has been happening at the Fill, I still
had a fun morning with some good birds. The Red Tailed Hawk was an
immature, and its wing tag was 70, black on a white tag. I'd be curious to
know where the bird was tagged, and if anyone knows where else the bird
should be reported, please let me know.

The Northern Shrike was a fun surprise, especially since I don't believe
any showed up last winter here. I was listening to a rail when an adult
shrike popped up in a birch on Canoe Island. It flew off towards the
Marina, and while I was unable to relocate it, I wouldn't be surprised if
it is still around.

Other highlights:

Merlin
Greater and Lesser scaup
Canvasbacks
Horned Grebe
several Virginia Rails
