Hello Tweeters,

Bill and I joined a WOS field trip led by Stefan Schlick to
visit good birding areas around Gray's Harbor last weekend. We spent
Saturday on the north side of the harbor and Sunday on the south side. I
always enjoy trying to find shore birds, and, over the course of two days,
we found 20 species, including American and Pacific Golden-Plovers at the
Oyhut Game Range and Bar-tailed Godwit among many Marbled Godwits at the
Westport Marina. We also found a number of the rock-dwelling sandpipers at
the Point Brown Jetty and the jetty at Westport. At the Oyhut Game Range a
Peregrine Falcon attacked a flock of several thousand Western Sandpipers at
high tide and ate two of them while we watched. Nature in action. All
together a memorable weekend! I have put our best shots from the trip on
Flickr if you are interested in seeing some of what we saw.
