The juvenile Ruff at the flooded field just south of the 3 Crabs access road was seen this morning by a number of birders. It was seen near the road before I arrived at 9 a.m. All later views were distant and difficult due to taller vegetation near the back of the field. It appears that earlier is better. I caught the 7:10 Edmonds ferry and wish that I had taken the 6:20 a.m. boat. I would have arrived early enough for a close-up look. Michael Barry told me that it seems to come closer to the road early and then retreats to the back of the field, where it can take a lot of searching to get on it. We finally found it in the company of three Greater Yellowlegs.

Good Ruffing,
