Just a note to say I went out to English Boom on the north end of Camano Island this evening, what a beautiful day, the tide was in, the air was still, the water flat, and the nearly full moon rose over the Cascades. I've been going out there daily over a week now, intent on recording an accurate fledging date for a late pair of Purple Martins . Today they were still feeding young, and as it grew dark they came in and roosted in the cavity with the nestlings. So, the earliest they can now fledge will be tomorrow, the latest nest I have ever observed.
