At the west end of the Columbia Gorge, we had our first of the fall VARIED THRUSHES calling in our woods at first light and three RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS later in the morning. An adult GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW showed up three days after our first juveniles arrived. Late birds include a juvenile RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD and a juvenile CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD that were here only for a few minutes before being driven off by the ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS. Wilson Cady
