Subject: [Tweeters] "Pettable" hummingbird health question

Hi Tweeters,
I posted some photos of a Rufous Hummingbird that had perched for a
while on a nectar feeder hook, and a friend commented "I've seen a lot
of sitting hummingbirds this last year. Did I tell you that one, sitting
on our porch rail, let [her husband] pet it?"
Would this be a sign of illness? I know Pine Siskins become very "tame"
when they have salmonellosis. I did some googling but without success.
Thanks,
Kristi
