Hello all,
Last night as my family was taking my 5 day old daughter on her first
walk around the neighborhood, I was happily surprised to spot a
Townsend's Solitaire in one of my neighbors yards. I've never been
able to find this species during migration (or winter) in the
lowlands, so this was a nice surprise. I was eventually able to
relocate it from my yard for a guilt-free add to the yard list (#128,
and we still haven't been here a full year).
No other major surprises in the neighborhood, but some interesting
sightings have happened.

Greater Yellowlegs - 14 birds wading in the Snohomish River on 4/4. I
think this is the most I've seen in one place in the county away from
the salt water.
Osprey and Orange-Crowned Warbler - 4/7. Osprey is not nearly as
common along this stretch of river as I would've guessed.
Northern Rough-Winged Swallow and Barn Swallow - 4/9. NRWS was new to
the yard list since I could never get a confirmed sighting last
summer. Oddly, Bank Swallow is the more common brown swallow species
here.
Common Yellowthroat - 4/10.
Townsend's Warbler - Seen intermittently throughout the winter, but I
think we have some movement as well. They're starting to sing as well.
Common Merganser - Seen year around here, but there have been very
large groups feeding in the river. I counted 54 in one flock
yesterday.
