Our family went on a grey whale trip out of Langley, Whidbey Island, on
Saturday. At one point the vessel was 100-200m off Baby Island at the mouth
of Holmes Harbor. We finally realized that a thick black line a short ways
off was the largest raft of surf scoters we've ever seen; easily 900-1000+
birds.
