Well the shorebirds just keep on flocking (get It? Eh? Eh???) to Levee Pond
in Fife...this morning at around 9:45 the SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was still
seen with Westerns and Leasts, and 2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were present
as well. These 2 species are considered rare in Pierce County but appear to
be increasing in recent years here. This year has already had several
individuals of both species.

A brief stop at the 56th st stormwater ponds across River Road in Puyallup
had a few Least and a Spotted Sandpiper, plus a Ruddy Duck and Cinnamon
Teal. I didn't see the Black Phoebe previously reported. Sadly, this spot
is a magnet for people too lazy to pay to have their garbage
removed...there was a big pile of trash on the private road next to the
ponds, which wasn't there when I stopped by on Tuesday, as if someone
dumped a whole truck load off. A shame, hopefully they will be caught.

But anyway, happy birding!
