Hi Tweets! Our little band of intrepid Edmonds birders endured another day of cool breezes (ok, gales) and blindingly blue sky in Neah Bay yesterday. We again failed to make any of the many loons in the bay into Arctics. I fear it may be that ARLO was a short-timer here and has moved on, despite the arctic-like weather. The WHITE-WINGED DOVE remained outside our rooms at Butler's Motel and we found a few hardy COMMON REDPOLLs clinging to wildly tossing alder catkins across from Butlers. We were unable to locate any of the White-winged Crossbills in the spruce cones near the Hobuck Campground despite several visits. Nonetheless, we score it as a successful trip with 2 lifers for Sherrill (Miller) and a state bird (WWDO) for Ken (Trease) and for me.
