On Jan 31 (below) I posted a sighting of a dark morph Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk south of Stanwood in Snohomish County. Yesterday I got a better look at what I believe to be the same bird and I believe it to be a dark morph Red-tailed Hawk (not a Harlan's).

While on the topic of Harlan's, I did see an adult light morph Harlan's yesterday ( Feb 12) east of Silvana and west of I5, at the intersection of 7th Ave NE and 220th St NE. On Jan 24, I saw a light morph Harlan's on Green Road in Skagit County. This would be roughly 25 miles as the crow files to the north of yesterday's sighting. Both appeared to be adult birds. Same bird?

This morning I tried to find the SURFBIRD that has been seen recently at the Edmonds fishing pier. The weather was cold and windy and no Surfbird could I find. Later there was a juv GOLDEN EAGLE with several BALD EAGLES near the end of Boe Road, south of Stanwood. Also, nearby, at the intersection of Norman Rd and Marine Drive was an adult dark morph Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk.
