I am reading the Varied Thrush thread with interest.

After Dennis chimed in I began to wonder. Then some good news but in my digest it was Wally Davis contribution which Struck home.

Long term cumulative population decline. 2016 may not have been a very good year. Foraging habitat this winter may be best in concentrated areas. Pressure on any old Growth forests even across Canada and up into Alaska will increase in the coming 3-4 years.

CBCs provide excellent long-term trends and show long established "strongholds". Any concentrations indicate food supply and habitat. Temporary increases in some areas may indicate degradation of formerly good habitat for any number of reasons.

6th wave of extinction. Be prepared to lose many feathered friends, and don't buy land under 15 feet above sea level.

Sad to have seen such beauty - now being destroyed and neglected from lack of caring , ignorance and even fear.
