Here on the Olympic Peninsula in rural Sequim near the Dungeness River, we have positive news on the Varied Thrushes. They appeared like clockwork in mid-October, arriving here in the valleys from their summer sojourn in the mountains . This winter we seem to have at least double or triple the norm around our property. It's been an exceptional fruiting year for the apple trees, so maybe that has something to do with the numbers. Most mornings I can count on seeing 8 to 20 individuals in a 3 minute walk along the fir shaded driveway and around the house and apple trees.

So, hopefully, we are hosting and feeding the thrushes that you are missing this winter. We will take good care of them.
