Went down to Kent on my first chance to kickstart the year list, and turned up some (one in particular) good birds
204th & Frager:
one or two Brown-headed Cowbirds in all-girl flock of Red-winged and Brewer's Blackbirds around frozen pasture pondSlate-colored Junco among 25 or so Oregon-types on road near corner house3 Eurasian Wigeon drakes among 75+ Americans on fenced pondsNorthern Shrike working the wires along Frager, and across the river

212th St. ponds: ?Usually a quick stop for me, but today had the best birds of the day
THREE American Bitterns flushed from grass and cattails near trailSix Cinnamon Teal, three of each sex, on shallow pond just west of main pond, visible from 212thOne BLUE-WINGED TEAL drake flew out of main pond area at eye level, almost too close for binoculars. ?White crescent on face and powder-blue speculum clearly visible. ?flew west alone over grassy field.
Kinda buried the lead on that one...

In other news, Mike Witter and I managed to refind the Seward Park Bohemian Waxwing, along with an estimated 175 Cedar Waxwings, for the Christmas count.
