The three Red-breasted Mergansers that Jim found yesterday were in the same location this morning at 8:30, and still there at 2:30 pm.

At Steigerwald Lake NWR a flock of 30 Horned Larks were found near the barn (there is still a roof that hasn?t reached ground level yet) viewed from, then on top of the dike accessed from Capt. William Clark Park. From the Steigerwald trailhead parking lot along SR14 one and possibly two Rough-legged Hawks flew over and headed east. One also had been reported last week.

Tweeters,

Earlier this morning, there were 3 (1 male and 2 female) RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS just east of Washougal Waterfront Park on the border of Camas and Washougal in eastern Clark County along the Columbia River. Previously, I've only seen two Red-breasted Mergs in Clark County - both females.

There were many scaup and a scattering of grebes but I didn't dress appropriately for the cold which still linters at this location so didn't stick around to identify everything.

Keep your eyes and ears skyward (or on a river).

Jim
