Hello all,

Sixteen WOS birders met in Dayton Washington yesterday to explore the
higher elevations of Columbia County. Just a few miles up Eckler
Mountain Rd GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were singing - one perched on a fence
post for all to enjoy. A few miles on up were 3 GRAY PARTRIDGE along
with over 40 Mourning Doves in a mowed weedy field. WESTERN and MOUNTAIN
BLUEBIRD families were along the fencelines and perched in trees.

Up in the Umatilla National Forest many stops were made - highlights
include GRAY JAY, CLARK'S NUTCRACKER, WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER,
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and the continuing BREWER'S SPARROW at 5075 ft.
elevation singing away.

Wildflowers, butterflies and a spectacular circumhorizontal arc filled
out the day.

Very enjoyable day with an outstanding group of birders and WOS supporters.
