I caught an early ferry and got to the jetty at Neah Bay around 9:15 this morning. ?I could not identify the pole specified in John Scordino's Ebird post but found 250 plus Rhinoceros Auklets in groups ranging from 2 to over 50 inidviduals. ?They are in from the breakwater out to the island. ?Needed scope at 40x plus to view clearly. ?There are other alcids around as well as scoters. ?In one line of maybe 15 - 20 Rhinos there was a single white cheeked large billed bird that could be identified as a Horned Puffin. ?A little squall forced me back in car but about to go back out and hope they get closer. ?May see if I cam find a boat to go out.
There are at least 12 Marbled Murrelets including a noisy family with two adults and two begging young.
