Hi All,
Our deck is needing to be completely replaced this summer, and we are
looking at the railing with the cable that runs vertically instead of
actual support posts.
But before we make that expensive plunge, I am wondering if anyone has
ever had much trouble with birds getting tangled in the vertical cable.
Its often a crazy flight over our heads and around us as they zoom here
and there, and our deck can get really busy, even tho the only feeders we
have on it are the hummers.
For nice birds, we had a Pacific Slope, Yellow Rump, Black throated Gray
Warblers, , and huge numbers of very busy hummingbirds.
Thursday we planted a total of 7 more trees, 5 blueberry bushes, three
Honey Berry, and some rescued Nandina, as well have moving things about,
and planting a huge variety of other. So, our once barren half acre back
yard is now going to tie in nicely to the 5 acre forest, and I hope that we
will see the Pileateds coming to visit the feeders. They have a lot of
food in the forest, but its nice to see them up close and personal.
We were able to spend a few days in Madera Canyon (one day) and a day at
Mt Lemmon, in the Tuscon area, my husband got his first good looks at Red
Faced Warblers, and Elf Owls, of which I was able to photograph...see my
flickr link, if ya want, no big deal if you don't.
It was my first time in the area since nearly 20 years ago, when Shirley
Sakerajasingham was kind enough to take me for at least five days, and
getting some great birds...We ended up with friends so my time was limited
on birding. (Next time we are going to sneak into the area, and not even
tell family, and get to Ramsey Canyon and all those yummy spots...)

Happy Birding, as our time has finally fallen upon us and we can once again
enjoy the beauty of our feathered migratory friends...
