Hello! Due to the crazy weather, we had a time of heavy fog, which I
wandered out into at 12:20 am this morning. I was planning on just
observing from the deck. But when I heard a single Western Screech owl
doing a series of straight hoots, no bouncy ball at end; I tried to get
further out into the woods. Since I couldn't see my feet, I was forced to
simply stand at the edge of the five acres and listen. Even with the fog,
the call was much stronger at the edge.
Of course when I get a chance I'll be searching for it, but I've
personally never heard a Screech this time of year.
So, what are the chances of a breeding pair if I only heard one?

On another note, I was told my Nandina is toxic, and we are going to tear
it out and send it packing.

Thanks for any info on the Screech owls would be appreciated
Thank you,
Vicki Biltz
