Subject: [Tweeters] American Avocet sighted in Western Washington

Greetings Tweeters,
I observed an American Avocet at Lecque Island's Eide Rd, Stanwood in
Snohomish County on May 8th 2017, photo below, taken at 20:27 hours.

The Avocet was observed wading and feeding in a shallow pond by the first
duck blind. It was in the company of other birds, some mallards etc.

Sighting of the same bird was also made by an independent birder the
following day at about 4pm in the same location. Bird was said to be
inactive at that time. I have been back twice during daytime hours since
the 9th, and not seen the Avocet. It's possible she has moved on already
after a brief migratory stop or is feeding at another pond in the environs.

As you know, this bird probably would have been swamped by the number of
people who requested its location so I did not disclose the location
publicly until now.
