I agree that 3-4 letter code names or "cute" abbreviations can be
difficult to annoying if the full name is not also used in the text,
esp. for us less than expert and newish birders. If I were to write a
comment about the BFB without saying Blue-footed Booby how many readers
would know what I was talking about.

On a very positive note I want to thank all the tweeters who post
photos. ID books have limited photos, so every tweeters' photo adds to
my visual knowledge. Thank you all.
