Subject: [Tweeters] Black-legged Kittiwake at Magnuson Park, Seattle

>From the photos, this looks like a different individual than the Kittiwake
seen at Discovery Park earlier in the day (which was presumably the same
one seen at Richmond Beach). Two different kittiwakes in King County in a
single day is amazing. Gene Hunn's *Birding in Seattle and King County* lists
only four records, with the last in 2009. I realize there may have been
others since then, but this species is quite rare in Puget Sound. Very
cool!

This, along with the recent reports of pelagic species further south in the
Sound (Leach's Storm-Petrel and Cassin's Auklet), plus higher-than-normal
numbers of Ancient Murrelets, suggests other species might turn up. I know
I'll be watching the water this weekend.

Good birding,
Matt Dufort
