Thanks to all who shared directions to find this beautiful gull, right in our own backyard! Almost as easy as the SNOW in Ballard a few years ago!

Special thanks to Adrian from Miami who got my eyes on it first thru his scope! Good luck to you and your family all in Miami!!
We focused in on that beautiful red eye ring but I only hope Irma's eye gets some eye drops and flies away.

It was great to meet people from other parts of the country - Florida, Idaho, California (just flew in - kinda like our guest gull!) and Olympia, etc., among other spots, near and far. But I think the gull gets the award for furthest visitor! It was really fun to share my scope and hear the kids reactions - that's what's birding is all about, right?

Definitely a once in a lifetime, life bird! Just think, we could fly off to the Galapagos and not see it there!!

It was especially great to actually easily identify a gull without having to study Sibley's!
