A question like this can easily be answered by checking the eBird bar-graph checklist for one or more Eastern Washington counties.



I had a look at the bar-graph checklist for Okanogan County. It shows that Common Nighthawks are frequently reported all through August and during the first week of September. However, there are no records for the second week of September, only a very few records for the 3rd and 4th weeks, and no records after that.



A reasonable conclusion would be that the vast majority of Common Nighthawks have left by September 7th. I presume that this would also apply to the rest of Eastern Washington. This could easily be checked by looking at the bar-graph checklist for other counties. (It?s also possible to create a bar-graph checklist for several counties together or for an entire state, if you wish.)
